A downloadable game for Windows

Put on some of your favorite tunes and wander the twisting alleys of Kowloon. Discover bizarre and impossible alleys, teleport across great distances, and get lost in an endlessly looping maze.

This game was written in C using SDL and OpenGL. You're more than welcome to inspect the source code, or to build the game yourself.

  • Move the mouse to look around
  • W, A, S, D to move
  • Shift to move faster

Don't expect miracles, it's only a gamejam game.

There is a shortcut in the game folder that launches the game in fullscreen. I'm told this might not show up in  the itch.io installer.

This prototype has great potential. Even without sound it's often dripping with atmosphere.

What an absolutely godless fucking place. 10/10. Wish there were a couple more chunks and a way to contact the developer.

I'm curious, what would you like to see in new chunks?

Anything works, just wish it felt bigger (ie more variation), as it currently is I think I walked around about 7-8 minutes before realizing  that it was looping. If you're actually planning on expanding, maybe some more 'room's, like the one with the TV in it, densely packed with furniture and junk etc.

I've been playing this for 10-30 minutes nearly every day since I found it, researched Kowloon history, read a photobook on it, watched a couple documentaries, fascinating, and very good work dev. Do you intend to keep working on it? I don't know any 3d  modeling if I did I would definitely assist. Let me know if I can help in any other way.

I've got plans to expand it into an actual game, but I won't promise it gets released. If Things don't work out, I'll at least publish some more rooms down the line.

Any updates? I've had this sitting in a folder for ages and just found it again, and I  would love to see more.

I'm really curious about whether there's a way out or not, i know it must be very annoying to answer a question brought to you by someone who's not even interested in the game, buuut... please?

try it for yourself

the wacatac alert is common for unsigned exes, don't worry about it. i think it has to do with SDL and OpenGL being untrusted to defender as i have had it happen to exes that use sdl and opengl

I'm also getting a Windows Defender alert. It says that the game has a trojan called Wacatac.D!ml. Are you doing anything about this issue?

I'm also getting a Windows Defender alert that this file contains a trojan.

I'll see what I can do about signing the executable.

Well done! Reminds me a little of Bernband.

Thank you!

This is cool! :D Is there a way to go fullscreen tho?

edit: nevermind, a friend pointed out that there's a Fullscreen exe in the game's folder. I installed and played via the itch app so I never saw the folder.

Thanks, I'll mention that in the description

This shows up as a Trojan!

I didn't sign the executable, so Windows Defender likely flags it automatically. I'll see what I can do about getting a certified build available. In the mean time, you're welcome to build it from source.
